Having a verified MyGovID account means you only need to sign up once and have just one password to securely access all online public services.
Quick and easy process
To get a new card, which takes about 20 minutes, you need to bring proof of identity and address, and your mobile phone.
Renewing your card takes about 10 minutes (bring your old card with you), we simply confirm your details, take a fresh photo and signature. If your name or address has changed you should bring proof of new name/address with you.
To apply for a PSC, you need to bring the following items with you:
Documents to prove your identity such as your current Irish passport, your current Irish or UK driving licence, or Irish learner driver permit. Documents to prove your address such as a household utility bill, an official letter/ document, a financial statement or a property lease or tenancy agreement. Your mobile phone (if you have one). If you bring your mobile with you, your number can be verified by the department. If you were 66 on or after 1 January 2024 you can avail of flexible pension arrangements. This means you can choose to claim your State Pension (Contributory) on any date between the age of 66 and 70.

Carers and the State Pension
Carers who took time out of work to provide care on a full-time basis may be entitled to apply for Pension Caring Supports to help qualify for a State Pension (Contributory) depending on the circumstances of the care. You can find out more on gov.ie/pensioncaringsupports
The Department will also have general information available on their wide range of schemes and services, including income supports and employment benefits.
