Host of the popular Sue Nunn show on KCLR96fm, Sue is originally from Cork, but moved to Kilkenny when she finished college. Sue and her husband, Clive, live in Thomastown.

I’d start out with a walk where I live, a beautiful area called Ballyduff. I follow routes that go through the Arrigle River and the River Nore. The feeling of being immersed in nature is amazing along there; the scenery and the herons and kingfishers flying about and of course the trout in the river.

For mid-morning, I would go to work of course! My ideal people to talk to are local people with strong ideas, who are humorous and grounded in their locality. I had the pleasure of talking to Adrian Ronan and Eddie Kerr before the All-Ireland semifinal, both well-known Kilkenny hurlers and fabulous people to talk to.

For lunch I would go to Campagne or to Lady Helen in Mount Juliet, both Michelin star restaurants, for a very special occasion. For a grab and go type lunch, I love going to Lennon’s at the Visual Complex in Carlow. A lot of people, especially in Kilkenny, don’t realise that the complex is even there! It has the most extraordinary, world-class gallery; we often go there after the show for lunch. Blackberry Cafe in Thomastown is also a favourite of mine. It has beautiful sandwiches and homemade cakes.

For the evening I would take off up to Ballymurphy up the Blackstairs Mountains. I have always been into walking and Kilkenny does provide some beautiful trails. Go up Shannon’s Lane, behind Mount Leinster, and you end up in a different world.

If I had guests, I would make sure to take them to the races in Gowran Park, which is always a super day out. Taking in a hurling match is always a must!

I would wholeheartedly recommend Ballyduff House in Thomastown as a place to stay. It is run by Brid Thomas, who is a brilliant host.
