TAMS costings see price of four-bay shed rise just 7.2%
Analysis by the Irish Farmers Journal shows that a four-bay suckler beef shed saw the reference cost rise by just 7.2%, with the low increase in slurry storage the primary factor.

The new TAMS reference costs put the cost of building a four-bay slatted suckler shed at €107,687.28, a rise of just 7.2% on the previous costings.
The older reference cost that had been in place since February 2023, the suckler shed was costed at €100,374.80.
The newer reference costs launched last month, which saw some items increase while others decreased, puts the cost of the shed at €107,687.28, an increase of €7,312.58.

This equates to €3,082.51 more in the farmers pocket at a 60% grant rate for the tank and 40% for the shed (all farmers qualify for the 60% rate).
In the case of a young trained farmer or female farmer who qualifies for 60% aid across the entire project this puts €4,387.54 in their pocket.
