In tranche one of the Tillage Capital Investment Scheme (tranche seven of the overall suite of schemes), which closed on 30 June 2017, 490 applications were received by the Department of Agriculture.

Of this number, it confirmed that 171 approvals have issued. No payment claims have yet been received and, as such, no payments have issued.

The second tranche of the scheme is now open for applications and will close on 6 October 2017.

Payment issues

The payment claims submitted for all TAMS schemes are being processed.

However, the Department has said that a number of them have issues that need to be resolved before payment can be made.

Department officials are in direct contact with individual farmers to progress claims towards early payment.

Applications to date

Since the TAMS II scheme opened in June 2015, over 13,000 farmers have applied.

It provides farmers with grant aid to improve or build a range of farm buildings or buy equipment.

Of the 13,000 farmers, some 9,628 have received approval from the Department to date.

Payment claims

Once a farmer has been approved to build or purchase equipment, they must submit a payment claim to the Department for the grant aid.

The latest figures from the Department show that 1,808 of these claims have been submitted. Some 1,279 of these claims have been approved and have been paid out.

In total, the Department has paid out €16.5m in monies to date under the TAMS II scheme.
