The Scottish Government has decided after “an extended period of wet weather the Scottish government has approved a derogation for Crop Diversification 2020.

The two/three crop rules will not be implemented for the scheme year 2020.”

This means farmers will no longer need to ensure they adhere to the three crop rule greening requirement.

Full guidance is available on the Government’s Rural Payments website.

Rural economy secretary Fergus Ewing said: “Feedback from industry has highlighted the struggle, and in some cases inability, to establish areas of winter crops as part of their preparations for this year.”
