Tillage looks to have been paid little attention in the launch of Teagasc’s new Signpost programme, The Dealer noted.

The IFA, the Irish Grain Growers’ Group and Tillage Industry Ireland are listed as supporters, but aside from this there looks to be no direct industry support.

Glanbia and Dairygold, of course, have large tillage businesses, but are listed as partners among a host of other dairy processors.

The Dealer hopes that the sector with the lowest carbon footprint will get the supports and investment in the programme, which are needed. All the policy calls for is an increase in tillage area.

More partners

The Teagasc director had stated that more partners can still come on board.

There is plenty of room for drinks producers and millers.
