Former researcher and author given honorary degree
An honorary doctorate in literature was recently awarded to former AFT and Teagasc crops researcher, Michael Conry, for his many books on Irish folklore.
The chancellor of the National University of Ireland, Dr Maurice Manning, confering the honorary degree of doctor of literature on Dr Michael Conry for his exceptional contribution to Irish folklore and industrial archaeology.

Former Teagasc researcher Michael Conry has not been idle since his retirement from Oak Park. He has been very busy writing books that recall the history of rural Ireland.
Michael has written books on subjects like the Carlow Fence and Carlow Granite, various topics on grain harvesting and treshing and on the rabbit industry.
Michael Conry was recently awarded an honorary degree in literature (DLitt) from the National University of Ireland.

These books provide novel records of the activities which took place in different parts of rural Ireland.
The importance of these records was recently recognised by the national University of Ireland which conferred the honorary degree of Doctor of Literature on Dr Michael Conry for “his exceptional contribution to Irish folklore and industrial archaeology”.
