Tirlán has confirmed its base milk price for September at 38.35c/l ex-VAT, which includes a 0.48c/l sustainability action payment, as previously announced last month.

This price was announced on 18 September, as Tirlán set a four-month floor milk price of 38.35c/l ex-VAT for the remainder of the year.

This represents a 0.96c/l increase on milk supplied in August.

Tirlán chair Ger O’Brien said that protein market returns remain relatively strong, but milk supply across the main dairy export regions continues to grow compared with the previous year.

He said the Tirlán board will continue to monitor developments on a monthly basis.

Belview open day

O’Brien thanked the 1,800 Tirlán milk suppliers and their guests who attended last week’s open days in Tirlán’s Belview and Kilkenny Cheese plants.

“These open days were a great opportunity for our milk suppliers to see first-hand the people, expertise and technology involved in transforming the high-quality milk produced on their farms into valuable dairy products for customers around the world.

“Feedback from attendees was hugely positive,” he said.

Liquid milk and autumn calving schemes

The Tirlán board also recently approved a new five-year payment framework for participants in the liquid milk and autumn calving schemes, effective from 1 October.

The package provides a 12.44c/l ex-VAT liquid milk premium on contracted liquid milk supplies and a 11.48c/l premium on contracted autumn calving scheme supplies.

The January seasonality payment has also been increased from 6.70c/l to 8.61c/l ex-VAT, while the unconditional seasonality payments for December and February remain at 4.78c/l ex-VAT. Seasonality payments are available to all milk suppliers, provided milk quality criteria are met.
