Bradene Pas Triplestar, a New Zealand-based Jersey bull whose semen is sold in Ireland by Munster Bovine and Progressive Genetics, has been withdrawn from sale.

The decision was made by the bull’s owner, CRV Ambreed, beause it could not stand over its fertility performance.

Irish farmers who used Triplestar last year reported lower than normal conception rates. Official field data showed a decline in the bull’s fertility performance, even though the semen was passing all quality control measures before being used.

Highest

Triplestar was the highest-EBI Jersey on the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation Active Bull List at the last proof run and was number seven in the overall list.

Over 10,000 Triplestar inseminations were carried out in Ireland last year.
