Swedish tillage equipment manufacturer, Väderstad AB has announced the 100% acquisition of the AGCO-Amity JV LLC (AAJV), a drill and cultivator manufacturer based in Wahpeton, North Dakota.

AAJV has been a joint venture between AGCO and Amity since 2011. Currently 110 staff are employed at the firm’s base in Wahepton, which is home to a 30,000m,2 manufacturing facility, a parts distribution warehouse and an research centre.

Since 2011 AAJV has been manufacturing products for the Wil-Rich, Wishek and Concord brands and distributes through some 270 dealers globally, the majority of which are located in the US.

Future focused

“We see this as an excellent opportunity to increase our footprint in the US. Our vision remains the same; to be the world’s leading partner for an outstanding emergence. With the acquisition of AAJV we’re even more excited about the future”, said Henrik Gilstring, vice president of business development and co-owner of Väderstad.

This move follows on from Väderstad taking full control of Canadian company Seed Hawk in 2013 having been a part owner since 2006. Based in Langbank, Saskatchewan, Seed Hawk is now part of Väderstad Industries and produces the Seed Hawk precision air drill for the North American market.
