Met Éireann has issued a status yellow warning for Ireland as a spell of wet and windy weather is expected on Thursday night and into Friday morning.

As a deep depression moves northwards to the west of Ireland, there is the possibility of stormy weather. Due to high tides, there is also a risk of coastal flooding.

The yellow warning will be valid from 11pm on Thursday until 9pm on Saturday. From later on Friday and into Saturday, Met Éireann has warned of the potential for high totals of rainfall due to another area of low pressure and series of weather fronts.

These high rainfalls have the potential to lead to flooding with the east and the south particularly at risk.
