Breeding is well under way for spring-calving herds. For Co Antrim farmer Ryan McDowell, the target is to get calving under way in early March.

While cows are being bred to AI, the homebred replacement heifers went out with Hereford and Angus stock bulls in late May. Heifers will calve down at 24 months of age next spring.
