A 55.8ac island on the Wild Atlantic Way tourist trail has arrived on the market. Duvillaun Beg Island, Belmullet, Co Mayo, is situated 2.4km from the mainland and is accessible by boat from Blacksod Pier.

The name Duvillaun Beg means 'little black island', but it is in fact a green island with fantastic views of the west coast of Ireland. The island is one of a cluster of Duvillaun islands nestled south of the islands of Inishkea and was inhabited until the end of the 19th century.

This plot is fresh to the market and will be sold by online auction on 22 July at 12pm.

The island has a reserve price of €200,000 (just over €3,500/ac).

“This is an amazing opportunity to purchase an island off the west coast of Ireland with views back to the Wild Atlantic Way tourist trail, an opportunity like this doesn’t present itself every day," said Will Coonan of selling agents Coonan Property.

Islands

This is in fact one of two islands off the coast of Mayo that is currently on the market. Late last year a 420ac island in the river Moy estuary came on to the market.
