The Irish Limousin cattle society hosted its Athenry sale on Friday, with prices hitting €6,600.

Initially scheduled for the day before, the sale had to be deferred 24 hours due to DVO restrictions.

This didn’t hamper trade, however, with the average resting at an impressive €3,758.

This average is representative for the 19 bulls sold from the 28 on offer.

Similar too many sales across the country, numbers were back on what was initially catalogued, with an original entry of 41.

Hitting the high notes and selling for €6,600 was Keltic Pax from Teleri Thomas, Longwood, Co Meath.

This highly rated bull is a son of successful AI bull Keltic Handsome who was also bred by Thomas. Ampertaine Foreman and Homebyres Visitor also featured in the dam’s pedigree.

Taking the second top price on the day of €5,500 was Maghera Ronan 2. Bred and exhibited by Patrick Mulconroy from Co Clare, this double five-star bull was a son of Goldies Jackpot with Ampertaine Commander on the dam’s side.
