Met Éireann has issued two separate weather warnings for counties along the west and southwest coasts.

A status yellow wind warning is in place for counties Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork and Kerry from 9am on Saturday morning.

Met Éireann has warned that in coastal areas and on exposed hills and mountains, southerly winds will reach mean speeds of up to 60km/h, with gusts up to 100km/h.

The warning will remain in place until 8pm on Saturday.

Yellow rainfall warning

For counties Cork, Kerry and Waterford, a status yellow rainfall warning has been issued.

Met Éireann has advised that from late Saturday morning onwards, there will be heavy spells of rain. Amounts will reach up to 35mm and there is the risk of spot flooding.

This warning will last for 12 hours before it expires at 11pm on Saturday.

Blight

Met Éireann has also warned that weather conditions will be conducive to the spread of potato blight across Ireland on Saturday afternoon, evening and early night. These conditions will persist in Connacht and Ulster on Sunday.

There will be opportunities for spraying on Friday evening and early on Saturday.
