Grassland Agro has notified wholesaler customers of a €10/t price increase on all its fertilisers from 1 February.

The increase is due to increases in raw material costs in recent weeks, it said.

A spokesperson told the Irish Farmers Journal prices for diammonium phosphate, used in fertiliser compounds, had increased by $40/t adding €10/t to the price of compounds.

International CAN prices have also increased by €10/t since the start of the year.

The spokesperson said prices opened 2020 about €50/t below last year and were at their lowest level in a decade.

He said there was notable interest from dairy farmers in particular in protected urea to cut nitrous oxide emissions, adding that more protected urea products were available to farmers in 2020 including two from Grassland Agro, Ecourea and Alzon.
