Autumn in the garden is a great time to give the place a good clean up. Here in our garden we did some work that was left on the long finger, so it was finally put in order as well as giving it a good weeding and disposing of old vegetable plants that were gone over. The spring cabbage and autumn broccoli were planted so plenty of exercise into the bargain and a pretty clean plot to look at. The flower borders were a right mess.
I often think about the amount of health there is in a garden for example it helps to improve posture along with joint and muscle flexibility and effectively reduces stress and tension, as well as improving your physical appearance as you are working outside in the fresh air. Gardening is also good for maintaining good mental health, you feel both relaxed and refreshed, your mind has to be on what you are doing eg digging a plot to sow something. Even something like spreading a barrow load of fresh manure releases loads of fresh oxygen from the soil.
A garden is truly a healthy place alongside having your own fresh food to eat, that’s why I love the garden as it keeps me fit and active.
