New Zealand – milk production continues to decline

New Zealand milk production for November was recorded at 2.85m tonnes, a 4.5% decline compared with the same month last year. This follows from the 5.5% decline in milk supply seen in October, the country’s month for peak milk production.

Denmark – Organic meat sales to Asia increase again

Danish meat exporters continue to find success in Asian markets for organic meat exports. Asia now accounts for almost 5% of Danish organic meat exports having been at zero in 2013. In 2015, Asian buyers snapped up €1.4m worth of organic meat from Denmark, up from less than €0.5m the previous year.

Poland – poultry production to hit record high

Poultry production in Poland continues to expand strongly as a result of rising export demand. 2016 production is on course to rise 15% in the year to hit 2.7m tonnes and this is expected to increase another 7% in the first half of 2017. Poland is the largest poultry producer in the EU.

Brazil – Sugar production up 18% in 2016

Sugar production in Brazil, the world’s largest producer, expanded rapidly in 2016, with just under 40m tonnes harvested this year. This equates to an 18% increase in production compared with 2015 levels. With a global deficit forecast in 2017, sugar prices are expected to rise in the coming year.
