ABP's byproduct division Advanced Proteins has acquired the John Pointon and Sons animal byproducts and proteins business for an undisclosed amount in Staffordshire, England.
John Pointon and Sons is the largest single-site byproduct and pet food ingredient supplier in the UK. It has a capacity of 400,000t on its 80ac site and is a family-owned business.
The business currently employs over 200 people.

ABP has been involved in the animal byproducts business for over 50 years and this division operates separately and independently from ABP’s fresh beef division.
ABP Food Group CEO Frank Stephenson said: “It will be very much business as usual and we look forward to further developing and growing the business.”
Pointon and Sons CEO Martin Pointon said that these are very exciting times.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to further develop what is already one of the market-leading animal byproducts facilities in the UK,” he said.
