A new phenomenon has taken the internet by storm, the #DairyDanceOff. American farmers Jessica Peters from Pensylvannia and Katie Dotterer-Pyle started the trend by posting a video of them dancing to "Shake it off".

“We’re showing the world that even though we are down right now, we are definitely not out,” Peters said in the video.

“Kate and I have been getting messages from farmers all over the world telling us exactly what they need right now; a reason to smile, a reason to dance.”

“You don’t have to be a dairy farmer to join in the fun. Grain farmers, sheep farmers, pig farmers, vegetables, poultry. You don’t even have to be a farmer. You like to eat? Show us your moves, get creative,” Peters said. “Pick any song you want, film it and keep using the hashtag #DairyDanceOff so we can follow along.

“Farmers and the people who support us have been too quiet for too long. It’s time that we stand up and tell people that we are loud, we’re proud and we’re not going anywhere.”

Rumour has it that there are even a few Irish farmers ready to roll up their sleeves and join in the dance-off.
