Walco

Walco are a New Zealand-manufactured range of spreaders imported to Ireland by Sligo-based CDS Agri.

Walco manufactures five mounted spreader models, starting with the Allspread 0.70 Mag Spreader.

This 70l unit is designed for spreading Causmag or magnesium oxide.

Walco offers models ranging from 175l to 500l with pricesfrom €1,715 inc VAT to €2,600 inc VAT.

Walco says the hopper, fertiliser guards and mudguards are built using UV- and corrosion-resistant polyethylene. The frame is manufactured using a steel construction with paint over hot-dip galvanise.

The shutters are designed using corrosion-resistant stainless steel, while the gearbox features an extra bearing for longer service intervals.

The spinner is dished with tipped fins for even spreading and the unit has a height-adjustable drawbar with a wide wheel base.

The spreaders come with a simple drive gearbox engagement from the ATV seat and an optional hard plastic lid or PVC cover.

The spec remains largely the same up through the models which encompass a 175l (€1,715 inc VAT), 350l (€2,150 inc VAT), 500l (€2,600 inc VAT) and the larger 675l tandem-axle machine.

Co Antrim-based Quad-X have been involved in the design and manufacture of ATV equipment for over 25 years. Their current offering of quad sowers and spreaders extends to three ranges.

The electro broadcaster is the entry level unit. It is a 60l mounted spreader that fits on the rear rack of any ATV.

It features a stainless-steel spinner and a UV protected hopper. It is priced at €893 plus VAT.

The commercial spec Pro spreader has a strong frame and a stainless-steel hopper. It is built on an extra wide axle coupled with flotation tyres and a low hopper height for stability.

It has a 465l capacity with optional extension sides to carry 680l. It is ground-driven, while the shutter plate is opened/closed from sitting on the ATV, with a lever to disengage the spinner for travel to outlying fields. Prices start at €2,539 plus VAT.
