Ireland’s only international marching band championship returns to Limerick city this St Patrick’s weekend.

The 51st Limerick International Band Championship takes place at 12pm on Sunday 19 March. Twenty marching bands from all over Ireland, Europe and the US will take to the streets of Limerick competing for one of the many prizes on offer.

There will be prizes for best musical performance, most entertaining performance, best local band, best youth band, best international band and more. There is also a prize for the best pipe band.

The Limerick International Band Championship forms part of the St Patrick’s Festival in Limerick. Tens of thousands of spectators are expected to line the streets for this year’s parade in Limerick. The bands performing in the International Band Championships will parade in Limerick’s O’Connell Street in the same route as the St Patrick’s Day parade.
