The Department of Agriculture has confirmed that Glasson Beef Producers Ltd, trading as Irish Beef Producers, has become the first recognised beef producer organisation.

The directors of Glasson Beef Producers are listed as the Beef Plan Movement’s Michael McManus and Eoin Donnelly, and the company has an address in Glasson, Co Westmeath.

Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed said: “I am very pleased to announce recognition, for the first time, of a beef producer organisation in Ireland, as I firmly believe that producer organisations are an important part of the tool kit in building resilience in the sector.”

He reminded farmers that up to €3,000 was available for people who wanted to establish groups. For more information on establishing groups you can click here.
