Beef quotes have dropped again this week with most factories quoting 10c/kg less compared to last week. Bullocks are working off a base of €6.30 to €6.40/kg, while heifers are at €6.40 to €6.50/kg.

The national kill remains steady, with just over 30,000 head slaughtered last week – an increase of almost 3,000 head on the same week in 2025. While the kill is currently 80,000 head behind the 2025 kill, some recovery is expected in the coming months, but no major increase is expected in weekly numbers. Factory agents continue to purchase forward store and factory-fit cattle in marts around the country; however, in most cases heavy cattle prices have come back in line with factory prices.
