The ICMSA deputy presidential race heated up in earnest at the AGM on Monday.

Declared candidates Gerald Quain and Denis Drennan were visible and active, working the room to gain support among the 100-strong national council.

There is now a third contender, Cavan’s Lorcan McCabe. Currently the chair of the farm business committee, the Baileboro man is well regarded, and will put it up to the other two. It’s a good geographical spread, with Quain from Limerick, Drennan from Kilkenny, and McCabe from Cavan. Pat McCormack is unopposed and now certain to be the next president.
