An elderly man aged in his 90s was seriously injured in a workplace farm accident in Co Cavan on Wednesday 25 May 2022, according to gardaí.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene at a property at Swellan Lower, Co Cavan, at approximately 1pm.
It is understood the accident involved a tractor and occurred in a field.
The elderly man was airlifted to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin for emergency treatment.
Gardaí said the man remains in a serious condition and investigations are ongoing.
The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) confirmed to the Irish Farmers Journal that it is aware of the farm accident and that an investigation has been launched.
“As such, no further detail is available at this time,” the HSA said.
In a post on Twitter, Cavan Town Fire Brigade said it took part in a multi-agency operation in response to an “agricultural accident at Swellan” on Wednesday afternoon.
