The number of Friesian cull cows on offer, particularly in the south of the country, continues to be high.

Continued beef price pressure in recent weeks has depressed the trade from where it was six to eight weeks ago, but they are holding quite firm in the past week.

While the majority of those on offer are carrying some flesh, prices are ranging mainly from €0.80/kg to €1.10/kg.

Only well-fleshed cows are making over the €1.15/kg mark.

Cull continental cows are holding well also, but aged and thin cows are still a slower sell and making from €1.10/kg to €1.30/kg, depending on age and cover.

Top-quality slaughter-fit cows or short-keep types are still making from €1.75/kg to €1.90/kg.
