Dairy Day is a farming event unlike any other. It combines an exhibition area, with over 60 exhibitors in attendance. There are three stages and people can move freely between each whenever they like.

The Beyond the Parlour stage features industry and market experts from around the world, along with key players in the Irish dairy processing sector.

The Calf Shed Talks area features Journal vet Tommy Heffernan and Irish Farmers Journal specialists discuss the whole area of calf health and welfare, from birth to weaning, including calf shed design.

The Skills Hub is focused on the skills needed to be a dairy farmer today. The six topics are repeated morning and evening. We also feature members of the Once-A-Day discussion group, who will exhibit figures on their group performance on once-a-day milking and give tips and advice for those thinking of going down that road.

The last 12 months have been a challenging time on all farms, but particularly on dairy farms. Storm Ophelia in October 2017 was the start of a series of extreme weather events that disrupted milk supply and dramatically increased feed costs.

While the full postmortem on 2018 is yet to be completed, we can say with certainty that costs, workload and stress levels all increased. Dairy Day is the ideal antidote to a challenging year. With the season winding to an end, take time out to meet people, hear from experts and chat to exhibitors in a friendly atmosphere at Dairy Day, supported by Bord Bia.
