Dairy farmers from both sides of the Irish border are heading to RUAS Winter Fair near Lisburn, Co Down today (Thursday).

The one-day event is taking place in the Eikon Exhibition Centre and the Dr EF Logan Hall at Balmoral Park. The show is in its 33rd year and includes over 220 trade exhibitors this year.

Show organisers state that over 150 show cattle are entered across the Holstein, Ayrshire, Jersey and Dairy Shorthorn breeds.

Judging the livestock at this year’s show is Brian Behnke from Brooklyn, Wisconsin, USA. Listen to an interview with Behnke below.

Behnke is well known in pedigree dairy cattle circles, having judged multiple times at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, USA as well as shows across North America, Asia, the Netherlands and Australia.

Entry to the show on the day costs £10 for adults, £8 for 12-18 years olds, £8 for over 65s and children under 12 get in free.
