The average price paid to winter milk producers in 2023/24 was 47.85c/l, excluding VAT, an increase of 0.32c/l on the previous year, according to the National Milk Agency’s report for 2024.
Two systems of milk pricing are used by processors when purchasing from farmers for processing for liquid consumption - the manufacturing milk price plus bonus system and the FLAT price system.
The first paid an average price of 47.5c/l in 2023/24 and the latter paid an average price of 46.18 c/l, both are excluding VAT.

In 2023/24, the MMP system was applied in 94% of contracts and 95% supplies of all year round contracts.
The FLAT system was applied in 6% of contracts and 5% supplies of all year round contracts.
