Herdowners forced to retain animals due to disease restrictions can apply for additional milk quota.

The allocation of milk quota to those affected by animal disease has been finalised. The Department of Agriculture will be writing to these farmers in the next 10 days to confirm exactly what quota each has been allocated from this pool of milk.
It is understood that close to 15m litres of quota was available for redistribution to some 700 dairy farmers who applied by the early December deadline. Depending on the severity of the individual cases, these farmers will get 0%, 20%, 50% or 70% of what they applied for. Each year dairy farmers that have milk supply interrupted due to TB can apply to the Milk Quota Appeals Tribunal in the Department of Agriculture.
