A 3.6% month-on-month decline in Ornua’s purchase price index (PPI) for October has left the processor’s estimation of member co-op returns from the market at 40.63c/l excluding VAT at base constituents.
October’s PPI of 140.5 follows a cut to 145.7 for the previous month’s index and a decrease from 151.4 in August.
Ornua estimated that member co-ops’ processing costs equated to 9.1c/l in October, a slight decrease on the previous month’s 9.3c/l.

As always, Ornua has couched its processing cost estimation by stating that these costs differ by individual member co-ops’ product mix and that they exclude a co-op margin.
In addition, the processor has announced its value payment to member co-ops for last month at €6.3m, which equates to 4.6% of gross purchases for the month.
