Meath farmer Diarmuid Lally is to replace Henry Corbally on the Glanbia Co-op board and on the board of Glanbia Ireland.

Lally was voted into the position at a meeting of the northern regional advisory committee of Glanbia suppliers on Wednesday, at the Ardboyne Hotel in Navan.

Lally was one of three farmers who went for the position, Denis O’Sullivan of Walterstown and Aidan Brogan from Athboy were also in the running.

Speaking to the Irish Farmers Journal, Lally said it is an honour for him to sit on the board.

“I intend to fight as hard I can,” he said.

His seat on the board is subject to ratification by the Glanbia council on Tuesday next.
