The National Ploughing Championship organisers will be sticking to a strict 200 people limit at this year’s event in line with COVID-19 guidelines.
Speaking to the Irish Farmers Journal, chief organiser Anna Marie McHugh said they were pleased the event could still go ahead but stressed that no spectators would be permitted.
“We’ll still be trying to bring a feel of the competition to people,” McHugh said.

“We’ll have lots of ploughing on our social media and feature some exhibitors.
“The winners of the Aldi brown bread competition will also be announced during the week.”
Winners
Roughly 100 competitors will be on-site each day and stewards will be on hand to direct them and their tractors straight to competition plots. In a bid to prevent people gathering in one spot, winners on each day will be texted results and the customary National Ploughing Association tent, which features as a focal point, will not be present.
McHugh said it was going to be a very different Ploughing but that she still hoped it would give something to look forward to.
