The trade would be well described as steady at the March sale of pedigree Charolais bulls and heifers in Dungannon held on Friday 15 March.

A total of 33 bulls found new homes on the day, with a top call of 8,000gns going to C and S McIlwaine, Newtownstewart, for their November 2017 bull Corrick Napoleon.

Judge Nigel Matchett had tapped Napoleon out as junior champion and overall male champion in the pre-sale show earlier in the day.

Napoleon was by the famous Inverlochy Ferdie and was bought by Terence McGarrigle, Belleck, Co Down.

The successful bidder was W Cousins, Omagh, Co Tyrone. The average price of bulls sold at the sale was £3,379 up £94 on the corresponding sale in 2018. See next Thursday's Irish Farmers Journal for the full sale report.
