Six farmers will attend the High Court on Friday on foot of the injunction granted to Slaney Foods.

While only one injuncted farmer has been summoned to the High Court today, a significant number of farmers injuncted by five processors have decided to attend today's proceedings.

News of the injunction did not appear to deter independent farmers from protesting as they remained positioned at the three entrances to the meat plant in Clohamon, Co Wexford, on Thursday. However, noticeably the farmers named in the injunction were not present.

The names of the farmers in question are:

  • Pat Crean.
  • Donal O’Brien.
  • Robert Bailey.
  • Robert Bailey.
  • Henry Deacon.
  • Michael Murphy.
  • No lorries attempted to gain access to the plant on Thursday morning, although there was a large attendance of factory staff.

The farmers concerned are known to be receiving legal advice, with the IFA understood to be assisting the farmers in how best to address their situation.
