The open period for slurry is fast approaching and farmers in Zone A will be able to spread slurry and chemical fertiliser from January 13.

Farmers in Zone B will be able to start spreading from 16 January and farmers in Zone C can spread from 1 February.

“Livestock manures or any chemical fertilisers should not be applied to land when it is waterlogged, flooded or likely to flood, frozen or if heavy rain is forecasted within 48 hours,” the Department stated.
