The Doosan DL280-5 Agri wheeled loader will make its Ploughing debut. Exhibited by Adare Farm Machinery Co Limerick, Doosan is well-known for manufacturing heavy-duty wheel loaders for the construction and quarrying industry.

Doosan, like many construction experts, has set it sights on the agricultural market with the launch of the DL280-5 Agri. The unit is the first of its kind in Ireland. Adare Farm Machinery had the loader on a countrywide demo tour to show its worth during the summer.

The DL280-5 Agri is powered by a 175hp, Stage IV compliant six-cylinder common rail DL06 engine, built in house by Doosan. Emission standards are met using a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and a selective catalytic reduction (SCR). The loader is fitted with ZF limited slip axles and weighs in at 15,500kg.

Doosan says it has e adapted this machine to suit challenging silage work citing changes such as heavier-duty rear axles.

Typical silage pit-work sees the majority of the weight being placed on the machines rear axle, compared with the front axle during heavy construction applications.

The Agri model sees the loader fitted with 750/65 R26 tyres. Power is sent to the wheels using ZF’s automatic powershift torque converter transmission, which has four gears and three driving modes. Another new addition to the model is the Bosch Rexroth hydraulics, which offer a maximum oil flow of 210l/min at 265 bar pressure.

The loader, like some of its competitors, uses a Z-bar linkage system with one large centrally mounted tilt cylinder. This design creates better visibility at the front of the loader. An impressive articulation angle of up to 40 degrees leaves the DL280-5 Agri highly manoeuvrable. Inside the new generation cab, either joystick control or fingertip levers can be opted for when buying the loader, depending on preference. The DL280-5 Agri is sticking to its competitors rates at €160,000 plus VAT.
