LG Armada has been provisionally recommended this year for the first time by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
LG Armada is equipped with a number of different characteristics including pod shatter resistance, Turnip Yellows Virus resistance, Sclero-Flex which reduces sclerotinia risk and N flex.
The oilseed rape variety is well-known among farmers. It has the highest relative yield score on the list at 106, two points above LG Aviron (see Table 1).
Other varieties on the list include: Ambassador, Aurelia, LG Aviron, LG Aukland and LG Armada. LG Aukland was added in 2025. All varieties are hybrids.
LG Armada is the tallest on the list at 146cm, 5cm taller than its nearest variety Ambassador. However, all varieties rate an 8 for resistance to lodging and a 7 for resistance to stem stiffness.
LG Armada rates highest for resistance to shedding and light leaf spot with scores of 8, similar to other LG varieties: LG Aviron and LG Aukland.
The oilseed rape list is often missing many varieties that are available on the market. It comes out around June every year as harvest and sowing are generally very close together.
LG Adapt
LG Adapt is another new variety for 2026, but is not yet on the list. It has a high oil content and good resistance to light leaf spot, has a stiff stem and has resistance to Turnip Yellows Virus.

Some interesting varieties to watch out for, which are not on the list yet are LG Avenger and LG Calvin Clearfield. LG Avenger possesses the same traits as Armada, but with the RLM7 trait, which gives it resilience to flea beetle. Calvin is a Clearfield variety, so helps with weed control and also has resistance and resilience to pod shatter, Turnip Yellow Virus and flea beetle.
Pioneer varieties are not on the list for 2026, but the following are available from Drummonds – PT315, PT312 and PT303. PT312 is the pick of the bunch with a high oil content and protection against sclerotinia, pod shatter, stem stripe and Turnip Yellows Virus.
