Friesland Campina, the Dutch-based dairy co-op, has reduced its forward price for November milk supplies by 5.92c/l excluding VAT for milk at 3.3% protein and 3.6% fat.
The cut is one of the largest to milk price in the history of the co-op and comes about as dairy markets fall throughout Europe and also as a correction to an overpayment earlier in the year.
Friesland Campina is the first processor to announce November milk prices, but almost all of the European processors cut milk price for October of around 2c/l ex-VAT.

Based on the Friesland Campina announcement, it is expected that the other processors will also cut milk price for November.
Meanwhile, Irish co-ops have only just set the milk price for September deliveries, with milk price cuts of between 3c/l and 4c/l across most of the major players.
Butter and cheese markets remain depressed, although the rate of price cuts has eased and butter prices didn’t change in the past week.
