An Garda Síochána has issued fines to a number of tractor drivers who took part in the tractor protest held across Dublin in January.

Over 100 tractors took part in the two-day protest when farmers and contractors from across the country drove into Stephen’s Green and remained overnight. It ended the following day when tractors left via the Port Tunnel and held a slow protest down the M50.

One fine, seen by the Irish Farmers Journal, was issued to the owner of a tractor which allegedly parked in a manner that interfered with the flow of traffic. The tractor in question was a Massey Ferguson on Lombard St during the afternoon of 15 January.

Fine

Under road traffic laws, a vehicle is not permitted to park in a manner in which it will interfere with the normal flow of traffic or which obstructs or endangers other traffic.

The fine for such an offence is €40 if paid within 28 days, rising to €60 in the event it is not paid within this timeframe and €80 thereafter subject to a court appearance.
