The deadline for Green Low-carbon Agri-environment Scheme (GLAS) 1 and 2 farmers to have their GLAS training completed has been extended to 28 February 2018.

A circular to advisers said that due to the continued high level of demand for courses the deadline would be extended.

“It should be noted that in line with the terms and conditions of GLAS no further GLAS payments will issue from this date until training is completed.

“If training is not completed by the end of the third full calendar year in the scheme rejection from GLAS and the clawback of all GLAS monies paid to date will apply,” the circular said.

At the start of February, some 35,859 farmers had attended a GLAS training course, with over 13,000 yet to complete their courses.

The original deadline for GLAS 1 and 2 farmers to have their training completed was 31 December.
