Brazilian beef exports appear to be recovering following the meat scandal which hit the country earlier this year. Beef exports for July stood at 106,400t, which is a near 30% increase compared with June 2016 and the highest level of exports in more than 15 months.

US fertiliser giant Mosaic has forecast global phosphate exports to reach somewhere between 68m and 70m tonnes. Demand for phosphate fertiliser is described as strong as prices remain weaker than previous years.

The forecast for this season’s oilseed rape harvest in the EU28 has been revised higher by 790,000t close to 22m tonnes. If realised, this year’s harvest would be 1.6m tonnes larger than 2016. The majority of the increased forecast is based on expectations of a very large French rapeseed harvest.

Growing Chinese demand for beef has made the southeast Asian market the largest buyer of Argentine beef in 2017. In the first six months of 2017, China has imported more than 38,250t of Argentinian beef, meaning China now accounts for over 40% of all Argentine beef exports.
