The first wave of infant nutrition manufacturers have been approved under China’s new registration process to supply infant formula into China. In total, 24 facilities have been registered to supply 98 different baby formula products to the market from 2018.
Australia’s Meat and Livestock Association (MLA) has forecast total sheepmeat production for 2017 at 495,000t, which would be a 3% decline compared with last year. Australia’s lamb production is estimated at 21.5m head, while lamb exports are forecast at 275,000t, a 5% decline year on year.
Argentinian beef exports for the first six months of 2017 stood at 95,000t, which is a 26% increase on last year. The value of these exports stood at $578m, which is a 15% increase year on year. China remains Argentina’s largest export market, accounting for 40% of shipped volumes.

In a recent crop rating report, the USDA has pegged as little as 32% of the US spring wheat crop to be in good or excellent condition. This is well below the three-year average rating for August of 69% good or excellent. The low rating follows a period of drought in the US wheat belt.
