Uruguay – beef exports rise in July

Uruguayan exports of fresh beef for July stood at just over 24,300t. This brings cumulative fresh beef exports from Uruguayan beef processors to 186,000t for the first seven months of 2018 (Jan-Jul), which is just over 3% ahead of the same period last year.

US – beef exports soar to record levels

Beef exports from the US for the month of June hit a record 90,745t, which is up 15% on the same month last year. This brings US beef exports for the first half of 2018 close to 663,000t, which is 9% ahead of 2017 exports.

Australia – drought forces farmers to cull herds

Farmers in Australia continue to grapple with one of the worst droughts in living memory, with many farmers forced to cull sheep and cattle herds due to a lack of feed. Australia’s livestock herd is set to fall to a record low as a result of the cull.

Netherlands – Dutch milk production continues to fall

Dutch milk production for June was down 1.5% on last year at just over 1.1bn litres. This is the fifth consecutive month of decline for Dutch milk output. For the first half of 2018, Dutch milk production stands at 6.9bn litres, down 1.4% year on year.
