Brazil – beef exports continue to grow

Brazilian beef exports show no signs of slowing. For the first three weeks of August, Brazil shipped more than 135,000t of beef to export markets, which is 10% higher than last year. At this pace of growth, exports for the entire month of August are set to exceed 180,000t – a new record.

China – pork imports double in July

Chinese pork imports for the month of July came in at 430,000t, which is double the volume it imported for the same month last year. This brings Chinese pork imports for the first seven months of 2020 to just under 2.6m tonnes, which is up by 1m tonnes on last year.

US – milk production surges in July

US milk production for the month of July jumped by 1.5%, or 120m litres, year on year to just under 8.2bn litres. This brings US milk production for the first seven months of 2020 to a cumulative 57.3bn litres, which is 1.8%, or almost 1bn litres, ahead of the same period last year.

Germany – wheat harvest falls in 2020

According to the German farmers association, winter wheat production in Germany is just over 21m tonnes this year, which is down almost 2m tonnes on last year’s harvest. In contrast, Germany’s harvest of winter oilseed rape came in at 3.3m tonnes, which is up on last year’s harvest.
