With the sun splitting the rocks, the time for hay cutting has never been better. Unfortunately, a number of misfortunate farmers in GLAS have been left looking longingly at tall fields of grass, as they wait for 1 July, when they can legally cut hay under traditional hay meadow stipulations.
It was an issue of hot debate in the Dáil on Tuesday, as a number of TDs requested An Taoiseach to bring forward the 1 July date.
Even the Ceann Comhairle Seán Ó Fearghaíl, weighed in and asked Leo Varadkar: “Has the Taoiseach ever cut hay?”

An Taoiseach bravely stated: “I picked stones during many a summer, but I have never cut hay.”
If An Taoiseach was willing to bring forward the hay cutting date, the Dealer would be more than happy to help with his hay cutting initiation.
