Independent Kerry TD Danny Healy-Rae has called on the Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed and Tánaiste Simon Coveney to meet members of the Beef Plan Movement amid ongoing factory protests.

Healy-Rae pointed out that both the Tánaiste and minister are Cork natives and could visit the protest at ABP Bandon.

“I am calling on him [Minister Creed] to visit the protest at the factory gate in Bandon which is only 25 minutes away from his home in Macroom and I am also calling on the Tánaiste Simon Coveney who is less than half an hour from Bandon factory,” Healy-Rae said.

He also called on Minister Jim Daly, who is TD for the Bandon constituency and the minister in charge of changes to the nursing home Fair Deal scheme, to visit the farmers at the protest.

“I am calling on these high-profile ministers to at least respect the farming community who are protesting at the factory gates by affording them the courtesy of visiting them at these protests,” Healy-Rae concluded.
