High temperature warning issued as farmers face ongoing drought

Temperatures are set to rise again this week as farms in many areas of the country continue to experiencing drought conditions.

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow high-temperature warning for 13 counties.

The weather warning will come into place at 6am on Wednesday for all 12 counties in Leinster, as well as Co Tipperary.

The warning will stay in place until 6am on Friday.

Temperatures will reach in excess of 27°C during the day, while night-time temperatures are forecast for 15°C or more.

Met Éireann has warned that the conditions may cause heat stress; uncomfortable sleeping conditions; water-safety issues due to increased use of beaches, lakes and rivers; and animal-welfare issues.
