The ICBF has published the 10 beef and dairy sires with the most serves in 2018. Anton topped the dairy list and Kentucky Kid topped the beef.

All sires on the top 10 list for dairy were Holstein Freisian. The most highly used dairy sire so far this year, Diamond Anton (FR2239), had 39,055 serves recorded by 3 October. He was closely followed by Olcastletown Ronaldo (FR2298) which was used 38,804 times.

Nextgen YKG Candy 593 (FR2385), who topped last year’s list published 14 July with 25,404 serves, placed in third this year with 29,649 serves.

Beef

On the beef side of the house, a Hereford bull, Solpoll 1 Kentucky Kid P HYF (HE2043), topped the list for handheld AI serves after being used 21,475 times. He was followed by Limousin Castleview Gazelle (ZAG) with 18,892 and Angus Christon Elton (AA2123) P623 with 13,775 serves.

The figures published do not take into account DIY serves, so actual usage is likely to be higher.

According to the list, the top 10 dairy sires were served a total of 225,602 times and the top 10 beef sires were served 115,385 times.
